“A Spiritual Second Wind” Acts 18:1-10 Sometimes we feel like quitting and giving up. Sometimes we need a spiritual second wind. A second wind is a return of strength or energy needed to continue. It makes it possible for us to keep on keeping on. Even those such as Moses, Joshua, and Elijah were hand picked by God but needed a second wind. So many people feel like giving up and just need a second wind. Some days we need to hear Jesus whisper into our hearts, “I’m with you!” He’s here! No matter what life throws at you, he’s with you through the trials.” Jesus is not just around us, the Holy Spirit lives within us. God is here to give us a second wind. If you’re down and feeling alone, God is here. Paul was in the city of Corinth after leaving Athens. He’s doing ministry. This city is known to be wicked. He’s ready to give up. He was discouraged and depressed because the Jews refused to accept the Messiah. He has had enough. However, the leader of the synagogue and his family had gotten saved. Many Corinthians got saved but Paul was still uncomfortable. He wanted everyone saved. He was ready to quit. The Lord appears to him and reassured Paul that he is with him. Paul was about to leave a work undone, but God reminds him to hang in there and it’s too soon to quit. He gives Paul strength in his weakness. God encourages Paul because there were so many people in the city who need to be saved. Paul was focused on the negative instead of what God had already done and was going to do. When you’re called by God, be careful when all men speak well of you. Whenever God has anointed you, there will be problems. God will be with you. The God on the mountain is the same God in the valley. We as Christians are so quick to walk away when things go wrong. We have to remember that God is with us. God looks into the future with grace and sees what can be. He’s not as concerned about where you have been as he is with where you’re going. If you need a comforter, provider, savior, anchor, understanding, strength, or anything, Jesus is with you. He’s self sufficient and unchanging. He’s our savior! There is relief, release, and deliverance available under be blood in the name of Jesus. He’s always with us. Don’t stop your ministry! Continue on in the name of the Lord. He’s with you. -Rev. Yesterday’s Word “Little Foxes” Song of Songs 2:15 This scripture tells us that when something is growing and alive, there are dangers to that growth just as the little foxes. When churches are growing, these dangers can be attitudes, bitterness, the minute things, the microscopic things that stagnate local churches. They aren’t expected to end relationships or spiritually kill a church because they are the “little things”. They’re sly, silent, solitaire, clever. As soon as things move forward, the “foxes” appear. We serve a loving God who sends forth growth but there is also an enemy who sends out foxes. The enemy is looking for whom he may devour. Decide if you will be influenced by the little foxes when the church begins to grow or if you will be influenced by God. Solomon warns us of the little foxes. If we ignore the little things, they will become big things and destroy. They give the adversary enough room to come in. Little things (foxes) will separate us from the love of God. They can steal our joy. Misunderstandings, misconceptions, little foxes will undermine the ministry. They will choke the victory out of our lives and churches. We have to decide to take the little foxes before they destroy tomorrow’s harvest or spoil the vine. We cannot allow them to stop the work of our church. We’re growing and going forward so we have to make adjustments and sacrifices. We must overcome the little foxes in the name of Jesus Christ. Speak to those things in your heart and tell them that they will not destroy our love and commitment to Christ and that he will not win. He will not distract me from what is important. Speak to the fox that keeps you from serving the Lord. Humble yourself and remind yourself that the one true priority in life is to stay connected to Jesus Christ. We must have the victory over little foxes before the vine is severed. Plead the blood of Jesus over lives and situations. Don’t let the little foxes spoil the vine and the fresh fruit. -Rev. “The Extraordinary Job of God The Father” 1 John 3:1-3 Fathers play an enormous role in the family. Had it not been for fathers, we wouldn’t be here today. Fathers are called to be the voice and wisdom from God. Every child Kong’s for their father’s love. Every child wants to be affirmed by their father’s love. They long for their dad. Every child wants to be protected by their dad. Be their protector. Our children need their fathers. There are no perfect fathers, but we have our Heavenly Father. He gave us his son. We were created in his image. God is the ultimate example of true fatherhood. Our text reminds us that we belong to a loving father. We don’t have to face our trials or carry our burdens alone because we have a father who loves us with agape, sacrificial, unconditional love. We have a father that can fill any void. God is our extraordinary father. He’s with us no matter what. The living water and bread of life is walking with us, guiding and protecting us no matter how we mess up. His grace and his mercy are with us. We have a Heavenly Father to turn to in times of difficulty. He loves us in spite of ourselves. Our father is our counselor, encourager. God’s live will be with us from everlasting to everlasting. God’s extraordinary love! -Rev. Joreatha Barrett

The Christian holy day of Pentecost, which is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31).
“Hope In The Midst Of Despair” Lamentations 3:19-25 Jeremiah has been going through troubles. He’s been going through pain and distraction and playing it over and over in his mind. In the midst of it, he says “yet” (verse 21). He realizes that everything will be alright. He has hope. He now feels God’s hand of mercy and power. He sees a glimmer of light. God’s faithfulness is never partial. He won’t compromise or contradict. He never changes. He doesn’t lose his affection or enthusiasm for his children. Jeremiah saw devastation and thought that he deserved to be consumed, but he had hope in the Lord. He knew that God was still God in spite of his situation. So he changed from despair to hope. He had to remember the faithfulness of God and his mercy that he was not consumed. One thought changed everything. He chose to remember the love of God. Remember the goodness of God. Look back and see what he has already done. Great is thy faithfulness. Everything that we need and more is in a new day with God. His faithfulness is always great. In times of plenty, drought, victory, and despair God’s faithfulness is always great. When things fall apart, God is still faithful. Whatever you go through, hold your head up and know that God is always faithful. He’s everything that you need him to be. Our faithful God will give us the peace that we need in these trying times. Through it all faith, love, and the Holy Spirit still work. -Rev. Joreatha Barrett

“A Praise Filled Heart” Psalm 138:1-8 If you’re saved and filled with the Holy Ghost, you always have a reason to praise God. He is almighty. We praise him for his goodness, mercy, joy, peace, righteousness. We praise him in the morning, evening, when we’re up, down, and sick. We praise him anyhow. We call attention to his majesty and glory. We magnify him. It’s God’s breath that gives us physical and spiritual guidance. We should praise God in everything that we do. David says that he’ll praise him with his whole heart. We sometimes praise halfheartedly. We praise if the song is right, if the right preacher is preaching, or if our conditions are met. But we should always have a praise in our heart. Praise should be whole hearted. God is the one entitled to all our hearts and love. We should praise the one true and living God. All of the glory belongs to God. He is worthy because God is just good. He’s good when were up or down. We should have our minds on God. We are commanded to praise God. We should have heartfelt adoration for God. We should have a mind to serve and praise him. We shouldn’t have to be pumped up. We should already be pumped up knowing what God has already done for us. We should feel a sense of reverence, love, and urgency to praise God. We should leave everything else outside the door when coming into God’s house. We come to glorify him. God is greater than anything or anyone that we depend on. He’s great! We should come with our mind set to praise God. Praise him on purpose. Have a praise on your lips. You’re not praising the preacher, you’re praising God. Move self out of the way. Praise him for the things that he’s brought me through. Some of those things I didn’t even know about. I love him because he first loved me. Keep on praising God in spite of. I’ll encourage myself. Press forth. Let the devil know that he has no power. Praise God. Pursue. Get your stuff back. All in the name of Jesus Christ! Demons have to go. Do what God has called you to do and he’ll give you strength. Praise him with your whole heart even when you don’t feel like it. Exalt him. God will work it out for you. When God has something for you to do no devil in hell can stop you. -Rev. Joreatha Barrett

“Because of God’s Great Love” Ephesians 2:1-10 (focal verse 4) Man was under wrath, but because of God’s great love for us, we have been saved. Not because of anything that we have done, but because of grace and mercy. Mercy has watched over us all night long, looked beyond our faults, and saw our potential. Because of God loves us, we have a purpose in his kingdom. We don’t deserve anything but God made us alive with Christ. God’s love will meet you where you are. Nothing in the world will ever be able to separate you from the love of God. God’s love is unconditional. It will never change. It’s wrapped in the grace of God. He loves us over and over and over and over again. We should love each other as God has loved us. We should be able to disagree but still love each other. God’s agape love is continuous, everlasting, and always the same, but not moody, and not based on my performance. He loves me anyhow! God will never give up on me. He loves me no matter what. Human love is fickle and conditional. God’s love is everlasting. Nothing can separate you from the love of God. Know that God loves you. If you’re burdened down and don’t know which way to go, know that God still loves you. Praise God. I thank God for his grace and mercy. -Rev. Joreatha Barrett
